Julia Dargan Brewer Bradshaw was born in Rocky Mount, NC to Joseph Beaman Brewer and Edith Gee Brewer on June 6, 1937. Judy was predeceased by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Brewer Chambers; brother, Joseph Beaman Brewer, Jr; and daughter, Julia Dargan Bradshaw. She lived her life with the belief that love for others in need glorifies God by reflecting our love for Him.
Judy loved Jesus and her community. As a lifelong presbyterian, she served as an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mobile Meals, was a board member of Thornwell Home for Children, and was a supporter of Crossnore School. She founded The Judy Bradshaw Children’s Foundation, which has served over 7,000 children with special needs throughout Spartanburg County since 1997. As a result of her kind heart and love for others, Judy was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Spartanburg Regional Foundation in 2015.
A graduate of Converse College with a BA degree in religion, Judy was voted May Queen and went on to serve on the board of trustees.
She loved spending time with her friends through bridge club, tennis, book club and especially her Friday lunch bunch. Judy believed that “friends are God’s way of taking care of us”.
She loved traveling and being wherever her husband, Charlie, was. Although Spartanburg will always be her home; she loved her summers in Linville and winters in Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charlie; her son Charlie Bradshaw, Jr. (Virginia), and their children: Mary Patricia Bradshaw McGreevy (Whit), Julia Ann Bradshaw, Frances Lee Bradshaw Salerno (Ryan); as well as son, Bill Bradshaw and his children: William Brewer Bradshaw, Jr. (Cassidy), Thomas Samuel Bradshaw (Jamie Keith) and Marcia Collins Bradshaw Cromie (Michael); and eight great grandchildren that she adored.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30PM, Friday, April 21st at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg SC.
