Karen Joyce Gowan Nicholls

Karen Joyce Gowan Nicholls, 80, of Spartanburg passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 after an extended illness.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Osier Freeman Gowan and Gladys Louise Gowan. She will be lovingly remembered by her faithful husband of 38 years, Robert P. Nicholls.

Karen was a loving mother and grandmother, known for her selfless nature and generous spirit. Her greatest joy in life came from being a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Todd Staats (Mara) of California, Jimmie Nittel of Spartanburg, Ted Nicholls (Kay) of Greer, and Joe Nicholls (Cheryl) of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne Llanes of College Station, Texas; along with many nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her brother, Wayne Gowan of Spartanburg. 

Karen attended and was an active member of Cleveland Park Bible Church.

Visitation will be 9:45-10:45am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Cleveland Park Bible Church, 711 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am, with Pastor Ken Casillas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In honor of Karen, memorial contributions may be made to Cleveland Park Bible Church.
