Kenneth “Ken” Lewis Shearon, 79, of Spartanburg, SC passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024. He was born in Rolesville, NC on July 10, 1945 to the late Cameron Horne Shearon and Kathleen Joyce Wilson Shearon.
Ken was born and raised on a tobacco farm, where he fostered his entrepreneurial spirit at a young age watching his parents manage a working farm and barbeque restaurant. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He began his career at Milliken & Company and subsequently ventured out on his own to create a recruiting company and later a medical staffing company. His most recent company, Axcess Healthcare, was his pride and joy. Ken will be remembered for his kindness and empathy toward people. Those were the foundational principles of a special culture he created at Axcess, fondly referred to as “the Axcess way”. He touched the lives of so many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dianne Drake Shearon; children, Kenneth Kellar Shearon (Megan), Brandon Lewis Shearon, Brandi Drake Lanier (Wes), and McKenzie Shearon Hopper (Ryan); grandchildren, Annabel, William, Lizzie, Caroline, Owen, and Cade; and siblings, Ronald Wilson Shearon, Cameron Edwin Shearon (Beverly), and Stephen Mark Shearon (Deborah).
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 am on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home & Crematory, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel, conducted by Reverend Brian Redding.
