Roebuck, SC- Kenneth Voronin, a proud Clemson graduate who worked as a mechanical engineer for over 20 years at Solvay, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Ken's passions lied in his community service. He was a member of the Optimist Club, worked with Citizen Scholars as a Mentor, mentored 5th Grade students at Roebuck Elementary School, and was a member and past President of the Roebuck Improvement Association. Additionally, he worked with Chemistry Connection, a program to help teach elementary school youth about science and in recent years delivered meals as a volunteer at Mobile Meals of Spartanburg. As evidenced by his love and passion for creating a beautiful neighborhood, Ken also served as President of the Moore's Crossing Homeowners Association for five years. Ken was happiest with a fishing pole in his hands and his grandchildren helping him. He was a dedicated Master Gardner for 3 years - You could always find him in the garden, yelling at the deer to get away from his tomato plants! In addition to his 2 brothers and 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews, he leaves behind his True Love of Nancy Voronin, his wife and partner of 48 years. He also leaves behind his sons Kenneth and Bryan, and grandchildren Quinn, Delaney, Sullivan, Lyla, Davin, Bennett, and McKinley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7th, 11:00AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 S Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or Mobile Meals, P O Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
