Spartanburg, SC- Laura Jane Krueger Schwartz passed into the next life on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Laura was born April 1, 1935 in Melrose, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Winslow Bruce Krueger and Doris Cleveland Krueger. She grew up in Westboro, Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Maine in 1956, where she met her husband of 61 years, John Alan Schwartz. Laura had made her home in Spartanburg since 1975. Laura was an avid reader and loved traveling, seeing the world, and learning about other cultures. Over the years she enjoyed many road trips throughout the United States, traveled to Europe many times, and enjoyed tours of China and Egypt. She appreciated the arts and regularly attended shows and concerts with her husband John. Her favorite activities, though, revolved around her family: annual family gatherings at the holidays and at the beach, tailgating at Clemson home games, and attending as many special occasions of her children and grandchildren as possible. Laura made and kept many life-long friends and will be missed by all. In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her children, Bruce Winslow Schwartz and his wife Martha, David James Schwartz and his wife Suzanne, and Jane Elizabeth Schwartz Polett and her husband Tom; grandchildren Bruce Winslow Schwartz Jr., Harriet Weston Schwartz, James Alan Schwartz, Andrew Brandon Schwartz, Michael Adam Schwartz, Danielle Joy Schwartz, Laura Jane Polett, Sarah Elizabeth Polett, and Matthew Thomas Polett.
