Lawrence Frank Ferguson Spartanburg - Lawrence Frank Ferguson was born October 29, 1930 to the late John Frank and NannieMae Ferguson in Pickens, South Carolina and passed into eternal life at home April 2, 2021. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 64 years, Barbara Ferguson and his brother, Thomas Ferguson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ferguson Brown and Richard Brown of Spring Hill, TN, his daughter-in-law and son, Laurie and Lawrence Frank Ferguson Jr. ('Chip') of Spartanburg, three granddaughters, Laura Brown Cooksey and husband Kyle of Franklin, TN, Victoria Ferguson Orellana and husband Joe and Annalee Brooke Ferguson of Spartanburg and five great-grandchildren, De'Aysha, Shamarion, and Corey Cooksey, and Iva Joe and Brooks Thomas Orellana. Lawrence and his late wife Barbara made their home together with their children in Decatur, AL, Greenville, SC, Albany, GA and finally Spartanburg, SC where they participated actively in their church and community for the last 47 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Spartanburg Church and the Al Clark Sunday School Class. Lawrence began his career by delivering milk for PET Dairy at the age of 17. He served as a master sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base near Frankfurt, Germany from 1950-1953. After finishing his service in Del Rio, TX, Lawrence returned to South Carolina where he continued his career with PET Dairy, ultimately serving as the Director of Fluid Operations. In 1995 he was inducted into the South Carolina Dairy Hall of Fame at Clemson University for his significant contributions to the dairy industry. After 53 years of working for PET, Lawrence retired in 2000. After his retirement he continued to consult for privately owned diaries. He spent his days in retirement actively supporting his family, attending as many of his grandchildren’s activities as possible. Weekends were often spent around the dinner table at his home with family and friends enjoying his fantastic southern cooking. The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Cutshall and his nurse, Brittany Allen for their compassionate care over the years. The family would also like to extend our appreciation of the great care provided by Spartanburg Regional Hospice. Lawrence’s celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306 on Monday, April 5, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Sal Barone and Rev. Chuck Thornton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC 1901 Wade Hampton Boulevard at 3:00 PM. Present and former employees of PET Dairy will serve as honoree pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TheEncouragingWord.org.
