Lydia Moize Kaplan

Spartanburg, SC- Lydia Moize Kaplan, 88, wife of the late Herbert Kaplan, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born April 9, 1935 in Burlington, NC, Lydia was a daughter of the late Ruth Ellen Thompson Moize and Arthur D. Moize. She graduated from Gibsonville High School in North Carolina and lived there for 20 years before relocating Kings Mountain, NC and then to Spartanburg, SC. She retired from the Spartanburg Herald Journal after many years of service. Since her retirement, Lydia devoted her time to volunteering with the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Foss of Spartanburg, SC, and her children, Jason Nale, Heather Nale, and Ashlyn Foss; her son, Tim Oliver and his wife, Cathy, of Boiling Springs, SC, and their children, Chris and Danielle Weathers. She is also survived by a great granddaughter, Mariah Nale.

In addition to Mr. Kaplan, she was predeceased by her previous husband, Bruce B. Oliver.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15th, 10:00AM until 10:45AM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM.
