Margaret Elizabeth West Griffin

Roebuck, SC- Margaret Elizabeth West Griffin, 94, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 12, 1923 in Startex, SC, Margaret was a daughter of the late Jesse Ernest and Mollie Sams West. She was a graduate of Limestone College where she earned her degree in Business. Margaret taught at Startex Elementary School, various dependent schools in North Africa, and Roebuck Elementary for a total of 37 years. She was an adventurous spirit and her love for world travel could only be compared to her love for teaching. Margaret is survived by her son, Richard B. Griffin and his wife, Karen; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alan West and Jesse West, Jr.; and a sister, Marion West Littlejohn. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19th, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
