Spartanburg, SC - Margaret Evelyn McPherson Ezell, a long-time resident of the Hampton Heights Historic District for 38 years, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her community. Margaret was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1928 and she graduated from the Alabama College for Women, where she cultivated her passion for knowledge and learning. She went on to have a fulfilling career as a technical librarian for W.R. Grace and Company, contributing her expertise and enthusiasm to the field for many years before her well-deserved retirement. A devoted mother, Margaret is survived by three of her four daughters, Kathryn, Deborah, and Myra. She was preceded in death by her first daughter, Suzanne. She cherished her role as a mother and instilled in her daughters the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of education. Margaret's nurturing spirit extended to her four grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca, Alexis, and Arven, as well as her great-granddaughter, Sloane, all of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. Margaret was not only a dedicated family woman but also an active member of Zonta International and the League of Women Voters. Her commitment to these organizations reflected her passion for empowering women and advocating for positive change in her community. Margaret will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the engaging conversations she had with all the people she met in her life. She will be deeply missed and remembered with love and gratitude. A memorial service will be held on March 9th at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Spartanburg, SC.
