Margaret Nagy

October 25, 1931 — December 4, 2022

Solon, OH- Margaret Szilagyi Nagy, 91, wife of the late Laszlo Zoltan Nagy, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

She was a part of the Hungarian Revolution Freedom Fighters in 1956. They were driven by idealism and heroism for their freedom! She and two of her siblings immigrated through Austria and their radio code name was “The Singing Angels” so that their family would know they made it safely across the border. Very fitting, because she loved music and singing every day.

In Hungary, she managed a Post Office. Then, living in Solon, OH, she worked at the Stouffer’s Company until retiring.

Most of all, she was devoted to the Lord and her church. She loved to take care of her children, grandchildren, and her garden that always contained an abundance of Hungarian peppers. Margaret made the best chicken paprikash.

Margaret is survived by her children, Steve Nagy (Corinne) and Margaret Nagy-Lagnese (Christopher); grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Lagnese (Jennifer) and Tyler Lagnese (Ainsley). She was predeceased by her parents, Istvan and Elizabeth Szilagyi; and her husband of 56 years, Laszlo Nagy.

She battled with Alzheimer’s disease. We, as a family bonded together and were blessed with the grace to handle it with respect, love, and compassion. We are forever changed by this love. Her message every day was to “love each other, take care of each other, and to love the Lord.” She will be remembered and missed every day. Peace be with her.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 13th, 1:00PM at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, OH 44146. Reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Inurnment will be private.
