Mary Lee Cash, 89 of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 18th, surrounded by family. Born February 26, 1936, in Chesnee, SC, she was the daughter of Hattie and Ralph Dean.
Mary is survived by her sons, David (Jennifer) and Joe, (Linda), grandchildren, Tim Cash (Donna), and Christy Hawkins, brother Berry Dean, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger, her son Steve, and grandson Jonathan.
Mary lived a vibrant life filled with devotion to her faith, family, and friends which brought her great joy. Mary and Roger met in high school, married in 1952, and raised their family in the Park Hills community of Spartanburg. They were very active in Park Hills Baptist Church where Mary worked in Mother’s Day Out, sang in the choir, belonged to the WMU, served on the benevolence committee and participated in the senior adult group where she planned many adventurous outings. Later in life she was a member of River Hills Baptist Church where she once again was very active and a vivacious member of the Hill Topper senior group. Mary was also a member of a Red Hat Society group and delighted in her friendships there. Mary and Roger enjoyed their travels across the United States and took pride in having visited 49 of the 50 states through the trucking industry. Mary was an avid Alanta Braves baseball fan and could be found sporting Atlanta Braves’ attire with great pride. She delighted in attending games, knew all the players, and enthusiastically cheered them on.
Always seeing the best in others and every situation, her positive attitude and smile were contagious. Never meeting a stranger, Mary made a lasting impression on all she met, and she will be deeply missed.
May Mary rest eternally in peace with her Lord and Savior and may her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
