Mary Beth Mireur Lofton

Mary Beth M. Lofton Spartanburg, SC - Mary Beth Mireur Lofton, 74, wife of Paul S. Lofton, Jr., died Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Born in Corpus Christi, TX, Mary Beth was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Josephine Davis Mireur. Mary Beth graduated from Southwest Texas State College in 1966 and in 1970, she obtained her masters from the University of Texas – Austin, where she met and married her husband.  Paul and Mary Beth were married fifty years this year.  Mary Beth was the librarian at Z.L. Madden Elementary and E.P. Todd Elementary.  She was active in the theater community and an enthusiastic member of the choir at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, Mary Beth is survived by her son, John Lofton (Alyx) of San Leandro, CA; her daughter, Elizabeth Lofton of Arlington, VA; her grandchildren, Benjamin and Lauren Lofton; her brother, John P. Mireur (Sheron) of Austin, TX; and brother in-law, Harry Lofton (Arlene Landry) of Portland, OR. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
