Mary Frances Setzer

Mary Frances Setzer, 75, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. She was born in Spartanburg on November 20, 1949 to the late Betty Jean Brown Crocker and Richard Hamlet Crocker, Sr. 

A graduate of Dorman High School, Mary graduated 3rd in her class from University of South Carolina Spartanburg with a nursing degree. She was a Registered Nurse for many years. She started out in the Psychiatry Unit at Spartanburg Regional Hospital before moving into Home Health, and finally becoming the Charge Nurse for BMW. She retired after several years as an auditor for Spartanburg Regional Hospital System, traveling all over the southeast with her husband, Joe. Outside of work, Mary enjoyed relaxing on the beach and helping at her family restaurant, Smokey Blues Barbeque.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Setzer; son, Jon Tyler Foster; grandchildren, Larry Shane Foster and Brandon Scott Foster; and a niece and two nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Hamlet Crocker, Jr. and Cathy Crocker McLyea, and son, Larry Scott Foster.

Visitation will be 12:00-12:45pm on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Monty King. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
