Mildred Braziel Ray

Mildred Braziel Ray Mildred Braziel Ray died February 5, 2021 at the age of 101. She was a lifelong resident of SC and lived in Spartanburg for most of her life. At various times she also lived in Columbia, Charleston, Florence, and Rock Hill. Mildred was the matriarch of a family that extends through five generations and has been a longtime member of West Side Baptist Church and is regarded by her Pastor as “the Mother of our Church.” She is survived by her son Dr. Max Ray; two daughters in law, Elaine Ray, Maureen Ray; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Ray; daughter, Sandra McCray; two sons, Larry A. Ray and Charles E. Ray. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Reverend Dr. Eddie Burris.
