Nancy “Pat” Reakirt Martin

Spartanburg - Nancy “Pat” Martin, 94, died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at her home in Spartanburg after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Charles Coleman and Elizabeth Colby Reakirt.

Pat attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She had a secretarial career and after marriage, she focused on being a housewife and raising her children.

She is survived by four children, daughter Pam Stephenson of Belvidere, TN (Fred), son Rusty Martin of Westmoreland, TN (Carol), daughter Cindy Hellyer of Spartanburg, SC (Arthur) and daughter Susan Lipman of Arrington, TN (Jimmy Cooper). She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pat belonged to Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon, NC where she was a faithful member of the choir, active in the annual bazaar and loved her church family. She was a member of the Junior League of Spartanburg and president of the Foothills Humane Society in Columbus, NC. Pat was passionate about animals and spent countless hours promoting animal rights.

The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers and Kindred Hospice for all the excellent care they gave her in her years of declining health, they treated her like family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18 at 2 pm at Holy Cross Church in Tryon, NC.
