Nancy Jo Snyder Pregley

September 11, 1940 — January 25, 2025

Moore, SC

Nancy Jo Snyder Pregley, 84, of Moore, SC passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was born in Parsons, WV on September 11,1940 to the late Clarence and Mabel Arnold Snyder. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her sister, Kathryn Snyder Evans, and her brothers, Frederick Snyder, William Snyder, and Allen Snyder, have all passed from this life, so Nancy had many to welcome her home.

Nancy was nicknamed Toots by her father as a young child, and it was the name that stuck with those who knew her best. She lived in Thomas, WV for most of her life, graduating from Thomas High School, where she was a part of the band (played the drums) and was her school’s homecoming queen during her senior year. She worked for the telephone company before marrying and moving to Ohio where her two children were born.

After living in Ohio for several years, she moved back to Thomas into her childhood home where she lived until the age of 78 when she made the decision to move to SC to live closer to her daughter. She was a homemaker for many years but then joined the workforce working as a grocery store cashier, a bank teller, and finally retired at the age of 78 after working at the local hunting club with her son for several years. She enjoyed working and talking with friends in her community so much that she just couldn’t seem to retire permanently.

Although divorced, she continued to have a bond with her children’s father, Frank Leonard Pregley, and was part of his care team when he became ill and passed away in February of 1995 at the young age of 57.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana Kay Rutkowski (Frank) of Moore, SC; her son, Frederick Allen Pregley of Moore, SC; her granddaughter, Samantha Jo Harper (Johnny) of Ardmore, PA; her grandson, Benjamin John Rutkowski of Greenville, SC; and her great granddaughter, Eliza Kay Harper of Ardmore, PA. She is also survived by many relatives living throughout the United States and back in WV.

Nancy’s memorial service is planned for February 28, 2025 at 3:00pm in Thomas, WV at the Thomas United Methodist Church where she and her son, Fred, were members for many years. Her burial next to her loving parents at Rosehill Cemetary in Thomas will occur soon after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, her favorite charity to support.

Her family and friends will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
