Nancy Mitchell Price, 91, of Greenville, SC passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Born in Louisville, KY on November 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Robert Amos Mitchell and Louise Schantz Mitchell and widow of the late Ray Bernard Price. She was a graduate of Stephens County High School in Toccoa, GA and later attended Perry Business School. Nancy enjoyed being active and had many interests. She enjoyed playing cards, games with family and friends, sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, reading, and cooking. As a young adult, she loved square dancing and participated with the American Square Dance Society. In fact, she met Ray, who was attending Clemson at the time, while square dancing in Toccoa. They fell in love; married in Toccoa in 1954; and had five children – four sons and a daughter. She was quite busy supporting Ray and their large family including many varied experiences: church, family, friends, boating, camping, and world travel. She was a Girl Scout Leader and supporter of all her children’s athletic activities. Nancy was a strong Christian and member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Alison Alexander (David); two sons, Ray Price II (Debra) and Matthew Price; seven grandchildren, Cameron Massey, Chase Alexander, Ray Price III, Michael Alexander, Ashley Price, Alex Price, and Savannah Price; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Massey, Sara Massey, and Emilia Price; and sister-in-law, Sue Mitchell. She was predeceased by two sons, Ronald L. Price and Stephen H. Price; and her brother, Bobby Mitchell. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at noon in the Dunbar Funeral Chapel, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376 and conducted by Rev. Todd Lowe. Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, GA.
