Neil Lancaster
A Celebration of Life drop-in will be held on Sunday, May 15th from 3 to 5pm in the Chapel at Roebuck Baptist Church, 1979 E. Blackstock Road, Roebuck. Friends and extended family are asked to join the family to celebrate the life of Neil Carson Lancaster. Neil passed away November 11, 2021 in Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a short illness.
Born in the Walnut Grove community of Spartanburg County on September 25, 1940, he was the son of the late Louise Wofford Lancaster and Grady Lancaster and graduated from Roebuck High School in 1958. He also attended Spartanburg Technical School.
He grew up attending Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church and later became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He became of member of Roebuck Baptist Church in 1970.
Neil worked at Arrow Automotive for 33 years and Southeast Engines of Atlanta, Georgia for nine years. In 1999 he started Lancaster Lawn Care and continued working until his late 70s.
Neil loved golf and was a member of Three Pines Country Club and Upstate Senior Golfers group. He loved playing golf with friends at courses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. His favorite courses were any course in Pinehurst, North Carolina or Skidaway Island, Georgia, TPC Sawgrass and Doral in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda Garner Lancaster, and his children, Corey Lee Lancaster (Tina) of Chesnee and Wendi Lancaster Hunley (Mike) of Windermere, Florida; his brother, Ron Lancaster of Moncks Corner; and two sisters, Judy Graham of Inman and Lynda Edwards of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Danielle Jones (Aaron) of Spartanburg, Joshua Lancaster (Amanda) of Inman and Darbi Leigh Hunley of Windermere, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Roebuck Baptist Church or to a favorite charity.
