Nellie Tipton Smith

Boiling Springs, SC- Nellie Tipton Smith, 102, wife of the late Steedly Smith, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Wesley Court Assisted Living. Born April 8, 1915 in Marshall, NC, Nellie was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Annie Allen Tipton. She enjoyed writing poetry. Nellie has been a caregiver all her life, caring for her parents in their home until their death. She was a member of Whitney Free Will Baptist Church. Nellie leaves behind a brother, W. M. (George B.) Tipton, Jr.; a special friend and caregiver, Grover Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, who died at birth, Henry Earl Smith; brothers, Gene, Clyde, Herbert, Raymond, Johnny, and James Tipton; and her sister, Eloise T. West. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Wesley Court Assisted Living for their care. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 13th, 1:00PM in Whitney Cemetery.
