Patricia "Pat" Ruth Hemmer

Patricia “Pat” Ruth Hemmer SPARTANBURG - Patricia (Pat) Ruth Hemmer, 94, passed on, January 8, 2021, with her daughter, Julie Ayers and son-in-law, Mike Ayers by her side. Pat moved from Rio Verde, Arizona and has enjoyed living at Eden Terrace, in Spartanburg, South Carolina for three years. Pat was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 16, 1926. She was the daughter of William Rhodes Becker and Ruth Warren Becker of St. Louis, Missouri. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Bill Hemmer and her son, Michael Hemmer. She is survived by her daughter Anne Hemmer, her daughter Julie Ayers and son-in-law Mike Ayers; her grandchildren, Katie Gauntner, Courtney Kalinowski and Travis Ayers; her great-grandchildren, Max and Maddie Kalinowski, Amelia and Avery Gauntner and Ezra and Hattie Ayers. Pat was a strong advocate for children, for so many years, as a teacher and a camp director. She worked tirelessly for Sunshine Acres, a home for children, in Mesa, Arizona. A house for boys, at Sunshine Acres, honors her: The Pat Hemmer House. Memorials may be given to: Sunshine Acres Children's Home, 3405 N. Higley Road, Mesa, AZ 85215.
