Paul Legree Finch, Sr., 92, of Roebuck, SC, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 23, 2021. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children, Paul Legree Finch, Jr. (Sue) of Flintstone, GA, Joyce Harkinson (Will) of Greer, SC, Kathy Schultz (George) of Rutherfordton, SC, Sue Murphy (Steve) of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren, Scott Finch (Jennifer) of Flintstone, GA, Jenny Fisher-Luce (Michael) of Cypress, TX, Laura Barber (Mark) of Lutz, FL, Krista Johnson (Brian) of Simpsonville, SC, Nathan Schultz (Beth) of Philadelphia, PA, Beth Sprouse (Michael) of Rutherfordton, NC, Brooke Cagle (Clint) of Powdersville, SC, and Josh Murphy (Felicia) of Greenville, SC; Twenty-one great grandchildren, Colby, Tallis, Aliana and Jocelyn Finch, Jack and Levi Fisher, Ethan and Hudson Barber, Madilyn Porter, Miles and Macy Kate Johnson, Tabitha and Dorothy Kate Sprouse, Landon and Edmund Schultz, Eli, Nora and Collins Cagle, Luca, Isaac, and Emsley Murphy; as well as his loyal canine companions, Shadow and Mitsy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Robison Finch, granddaughter, Kate Schultz Colon and daughter-in-law, Sue Finch. Born July 8, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late William Miles Finch and Kate Gossett. He also had a stepfather, Henry Madison Smith. He was a graduate of Roebuck High School and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois. He spent most of his career as an Electrician at Taylor Colquitt but was also Maintenance Supervisor at Southern Wood Piedmont and Barnett Southern Corporation. He was a Ruling Elder in the PCA where he was a Charter Member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for many years. His present church home was Mount Calvary in Walnut Grove, SC. His love of the Bible was displayed by his work with Gideons International. The Finches had a passion for gardening and would sell their vegetables at a stand in front of their little red home. He was affectionately known as “Daddy” to his children, “Papa” to his grandchildren, and “Farmer Papa” to his great-grandchildren. He prayed for each one by name. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love and legacy he leaves behind. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 28th, 10:00-10:45AM at Mt. Calvary Church, 1399 Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. The funeral service will follow at 11:00AM. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
