Paul Sackett Scruggs

April 20, 1954 — March 4, 2025

Spartanburg, SC

Paul Sackett Scruggs, 70, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born on April 20, 1954 to the late Julianne Sackett and Solon Douglas Scruggs.

Paul graduated from Spartanburg High School, Class of 1972. He was a gifted jack of all trades, capable of building and repairing anything, and made it his profession. A thoughtful, generous man, he enjoyed helping others. He and his wife, Lynne, thrived for many years side-by-side making improvements on their property.

He loved spending time in nature- hunting, fishing, and gardening. Lake Murray was his second home for 24 years. Paul enjoyed every moment there and could often be found taking a ride on his boat at sunset or driving his golf cart in the afternoon sun. He was also part of a Thursday night bowling league and loved to talk about drag racing and hotrods.

Paul is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lynne Phillips Scruggs; daughter, Sarah Elisabeth Scruggs; sister, Jan Eller (Steve) of Marble, NC; Logan Wyatt (Zack), who Paul considered his second daughter; and his best friend of 60 years, Bobby Allen. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Scruggs.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Spartanburg Regional for their excellent care of Paul, especially Ashlee Tate, who not only took care of Paul, but took care of them, too.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, Sc 29376.

In memory of Paul, contributions may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society.
