Spartanburg, SC- Raymond Elmer Neuse, Sr., 92, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home. Raymond, a proud native Texan, was born in McQueeney, TX on June 27, 1925 and was a son of the late Edwin Julius and Ruby Adele Larson Neuse. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force. “Tex” was a gunnery sergeant, flying seven successful missions during WWII. Raymond attended Wofford College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business. Since his retirement from Spartan Mills in 1988, he worked security at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. Raymond was a talented, but modest, painter, a dexterous guitar player, and a sublime singer. He is survived by his sons, Ranny “Ray” Neuse (Debby), Michael Neuse (Sheila), Raymond Neuse, Jr. (Kate), and Sean Neuse; daughters, Ruthie Slaton, Gina Odom, and Nancy Prosser (Steve); daughter in-law, Joyce; and an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Raymond was predeceased by a son, Johnny Neuse; and his siblings, Marvin, Edwin, Mary, Ruby, and June Nell. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20th, 12:00noon at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Michael Neuse. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held in the MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
