Richard Grant Revan, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He was born in Tryon, NC, to the late Dematrice Lafayette and Betty Lou Barton Revan.
Richard "Rick" was a proud graduate of Clemson University and earned his master's degree in education from Converse College. Throughout his career, Rick wore many hats, excelling in various roles including elementary and middle school teacher, landscape company owner, and successful plant nursery proprietor at Franks Plants & Produce. He cherished the relationships he built with fellow teachers and customers alike.
Rick’s love for sports, particularly Clemson football, Atlanta Falcon football, and Atlanta Braves baseball, was evident to all who knew him. He took great joy in watching his son play baseball and had a knack for lifting spirits with his sense of humor and an endless repertoire of jokes. An authentic and genuine individual, Rick had a special talent for making people laugh and feel at ease.
Rick was also a proud Freemason, carrying on the tradition from his father. Rick was a beloved member of his neighborhood community and was known for his immaculate yard, unwavering kindness, and hearty laughter. He adored his granddaughter, Parker and his two kitties, Lucy and Lucky.
He is survived by his son, James Revan and family, Ashton, Parker & Wyatt Revan of Summerville, SC; his brother David Revan and family, Mary and Josh Revan of Pauline, SC; his nephew Lawson Revan and family, Alli, Audra, and Colin Revan of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his niece Ali Revan Fant and husband Jason Fant of Columbia, SC. He was predeceased by his stepson Duane Mason.
Visitation will be 1:00-1:45pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 2:00pm, conducted by Rev. Todd Lowe.
