Richard Carl Shook Spartanburg – Richard Carl Shook, 84, husband of Gail Bridges Shook, died Thursday, September 3, 2020. Richard was born on June 28, 1936, to the late Wayne Theodore and Grace Ray Shook. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Richard loved his family, his Lord, and his country. He faithfully served his country for over 32 years, serving in the US Army, Army Reserves, and the National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant Major. Richard was a member of the Arcadia Masonic Lodge #278 and the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by two sons, Richard Anthony Shook of Chesnee, Russell Alan Shook (Sherri Abbott Shook) of Campobello; and a daughter, Rhonda Kay Rice of Spartanburg. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Joseph Alan Shook, Richard Miles Shook (Heather Lipsey Shook), Scottie Allen Rice, Corey Christopher Rice; thirteen great-grandchildren, Gabriel Isaac Rice, Karrigan Elizabeth Rice, Scottlyn Grace Rice, Bradley Wayne Rice, Bentley Clinton Shook, Dawson Alan Shook, Annali Soriya Sieng, Mallory O. Moore, N. Hunter Bland, Easton T. Santanna, Lyanna Hope Lindsey, Ariann Faith Lindsey, and Tracy Cathcart. He was predeceased by a brother, Russell James Shook. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Encouraging Word: 250 E.
