Robert Allen Brannon

Robert (Bob) Allen Brannon, 73, died following a short illness on September 30th, 2023. Born July 7th, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Juanita Calloway Brannon and Cyrus Lamar Brannon. After graduating from Wofford College and USC-Spartanburg with degrees in math and accounting, Bob began his career as a CPA in Spartanburg with several local and national firms. He later served in numerous other roles, including CFO of WJB video and American Storage before becoming Vice President of Finance at Blockbuster Video. He ended his career as President and Chief Operating Officer of Extended Stay America. Bob enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Clarke, and spending time on the golf course with friends. He also enjoyed spending time in the mountains and at the beach. Bob is survived by his daughter Hannah Brannon Bodie and her husband, Jason, of Mount Pleasant, son Bladen Allen Brannon and his wife, Elizabeth, of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Henry and Caitlyn Bodie and Bear and Carson Brannon; brother, Dennis Ray Brannon; sister, Kathy Brannon Pearson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Donald Lee Brannon, and wife, Clarke Smart Brannon. The celebration of life will be held on October 4th from 3pm to 5pm at the Piedmont Club, 361 E Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
