Rodney Kevin Sarver

March 3, 1966 — December 10, 2017

Pauline, SC- Rodney Kevin Sarver, 51, died suddenly on Sunday, December 10, 2017 while diamond prospecting in Arkansas.  Kevin had an adventurous spirit and he loved geology with a passion—vacations were spent trying to find a cave to crawl around in!  Kevin obtained his bachelors degree in geology at Clemson University in 1996 and was an avid football fan (go Tigers!).  Kevin had a mechanically whimsical imagination and loved to work with his hands—he was an accomplished woodworker, and in his spare time made woodworking projects in his home shop.  Kevin was enjoying his work with the United States Postal Service maintenance division, and at the time of his passing was attending school in Oklahoma for advanced training related to his position.  Kevin also loved beekeeping and shared his passion with anyone who expressed an interest.  His goal was becoming a Master Beekeeper and was an active participant in the Spartanburg Beekeepers Association, always hoping to spread knowledge about these endangered and critically important insects.  Kevin served honorably during Operation Desert Storm as a US Army Reservist and was awarded several medals for his outstanding performance in the field.  Kevin was a loving husband and father and will be terribly missed by his wife, Kristy and daughters, Hannah and Heather.  In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his parents and their spouses from Charleston, SC:  Marlene and Charles Williamon and Gordon and Cheryl Sarver; as well as mother and father in-law, Becky and Frank Ambrose (Greer, SC).  Kevin was the youngest of four sons and is survived by his brothers and their wives, Daryl and Angela (New Hampshire), Glenn and Ruby (Georgia) and Greg and Mitzi (Charleston, SC).  Kevin and his family attended Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be Sunday, December 17th, 2 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Clemson attire is welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Benjamin House Fund, c/o Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369.
