Spartanburg, SC – Ronald D. Burnette, 89, passed away on November 21st, 2023. Ronn was born on September 25th, 1934, in Greer, SC. He was raised by his grandmother, Mrs. Alma Cabaniss, from the age of three years old. He graduated from Greer High School, earning Nine Varsity Letters in sports. He then went on to attend Wofford College on an athletic scholarship. From there he transferred to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., from where he went on to graduate. Ron was also a veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army for two years as an instructor. Ronn met his wife to be, Susan Turner Burnette, while at Wofford. After their meeting, they got married only nine months later. Ron went on to marry Susan in 1956. She was the ABSOLUTE Love of his Life. Kim, their daughter once quoted that they were “joined at the hip”. Ronn’s career was in Textiles and Fibers, working in management positions in several different cities, including New York City for many years before returning to South Carolina. Ronn and Susan were members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and loved their “Great” Sunday School Class. Ronn is survived by his granddaughter, Halle Craig. Ronn is preceded in death by his wife, his son, and his daughter. Susan passed away after 64 years of marriage, and his children; Ronald “Tab” Burnette, and Kimberly Craig Burnette, passed away at the young ages of 40 and 52. A graveside service will be held on December 1st, 2023, 4:00 PM, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
