Spartanburg - Ronald Lee Murray, 74, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Sunday June 12, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.  Born January 14, 1948, in Toledo Ohio, he was the son of the late Laurance Free Murray and Helen Louise (Jenne) Murray.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years Bonnie (Overberg) Murray, son Tom (Mindy) of Boiling Springs, SC and grandchildren Aaron, Jason, and Samantha.  He is also survived by his brother Jon (Janet) Murray of Loudon Tennessee, niece Eva (Tom) Murray of Raleigh North Carolina, and nephew Karl (Christina) of Bixby Oklahoma.

Ron was a graduate of Waite High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Ohio State University.  He spent his entire career as a commercial property and casualty insurance agent for Picton-Cavanaugh Agency in Toledo, later becoming its president.  Retirement took him to Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2005 to be closer to his family.  Ron was an avid skier and golfer for most of his life.  Ron and Bonnie would spend a third of the year in Vail, Colorado to ski, bike, and golf in the mountains.  Ron enjoyed traveling up to Columbus, OH to watch The Ohio State University football team, including seeing 9 straight home wins against TTUN.

His funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at 290 E. Main St, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29302 at 1 PM on Friday July 1^st, 2022.  He will be interned in the Church’s columbarium immediately following the mass.  Friends and family are invited to a reception following services at the Carolina Country Club at 2355 Carolina Country Club Rd, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29306. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Agape Care (Hospice) at 110 Dillon Dr, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307, or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
