Charleston, SC- Ross Timothy Smith, 27, son of J. Daniel and Robin McCraw Smith, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Ross was born December 3, 1990 in Spartanburg, SC and attended Spartanburg High School, class of 2009. While attending, he was a member of the football team and President of the Tippers Club. Ross was a Wyld Life Leader for Young Life at Westminster Presbyterian Church where he was also a member. Ross was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. While at USC, he was employed with American & Piedmont Airlines. After graduation, he taught geometry and statistics at Gaffney High School, then Special Needs in Duluth Public Schools in Duluth, GA. He currently was teaching Algebra at Daniel A. Jenkins Academy in Charleston. In addition to his parents, Ross is survived by his paternal grandmother, Annie Ruth Smith; maternal grandparents, Ted & Betty McCraw; Uncle, Tim Smith and wife Ruth of Pacolet; Aunt, Jane Davis and husband Martin Greene of Chesnee; Uncle, Teddie McCraw, Jr. of Spartanburg; and Cousins, Danielle Davis, Mollie McCraw, Meghan and husband Jake Scoggins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Randolph Smith. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 4th, 4PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A visitation will follow. The family will be at the home all week.
