Roy Lee Turner, Jr.

Spartanburg – Roy Lee Turner, Jr., 91, husband of Elsie Catoe Turner, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Roy was born on June 9, 1930, to the late Roy Lee Turner, Sr. and Alice Parker Davis. He was born and raised in Chester, SC. Roy graduated from Chester High School and joined the US Navy in 1950, serving during the Korean War. He worked for the US Forest Service from 1961 – 1986. After retiring, he moved to Surfside Beach, SC where he was an avid fisherman.  Roy was a Mason; Sinclair Lodge 154 and Shriner; member Jamil Shrine Temple. He was a member of Garden City Baptist Church, Garden City, SC

Roy is survived by daughters, Vickie Cooper (Mike) of Lexington, SC, and Cheryl MacMillan (Edward) of Spartanburg

He was blessed with four grandchildren, Brian Cooper (Joy), Todd Cooper (Lacey), Ryan MacMillan (Hannah), Derrick MacMillan; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Sal Barone.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Roy will be buried with military honors at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in a private service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children; Attn: Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
