Sally Nicholson Myers Hayes

Sally (Sarah) Nicholson Myers Hayes, 70, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was born in Spartanburg on September 18, 1954, daughter of the late Dr. John L. Myers, Sr. and Tillie Brice Myers.

A graduate of Spartanburg High School (Class of 1972), Sally went on to earn her master’s in education from the University of South Carolina. She continued her post-graduate education at Converse College. Sally taught elementary school in Spartanburg Districts 1, 5, 6, and 7, and retired after 43 years of service to the children and families in her community. Even outside of her time at school, Sally enjoyed reading.

Sally is survived by her husband, John E. R. Hayes, Jr.; daughters, Lauren V. Corum (Justin) and Allison Hooker of Knoxville, TN; stepchildren, John Hayes, III (Mary) of Spartanburg, SC, Jeanne Love Parker (Brian) of King George, VA, and Millan Dostert (Steve) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Sawyer Corum, Emma Parker, Cannon Parker, Mason Parker, Rollins Hayes, Jackson Edwards, Hayes Edwards, Laine Edwards, Aiden Corum, and Rylan Corum; and brother, John L. Myers, Jr. of Columbia, SC. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Albert Wallace Brice Myers.

Memorial services will be 11:00am on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home & Crematory, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376.
