Sara Ann Burgess Romney Sara Ann Burgess Romney wife of the late Edward H. Romney, died September 24, 2017 and in Christ may be clothed in Glory. She was born in Gastonia, NC, January 20, 1942 to John M. and Doris Reid Burgess. Sara's life testimony is one of a disciple of Jesus Christ. She was a faithful and active member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Lyman, SC. She had a heart for many faith traditions and communions over the course of her life. She was raised in the Methodist Church and professed her faith in her Lord, as Romans 10:9 proclaims, at Calvary Baptist Church. Her Gifts of the Holy Spirit, by the grace of God, were faith-hospitality-generosity. She had an abiding love for the Word of God, The Order of St. Luke, and The Full Gospel Healing Ministry. She was a faithful member of "The Call to Discipleship" bible study under the teaching ministry of Erilynne Barnum. Sara also believed in a faith lived out through service in her community. She was a member of the Kate Barry Chapter of The DAR and served as Regent. She held offices as Chaplain and Chair of the By-laws Committee of the Palmetto House Republican Women. She was a student of history especially of our "one Nation under God" and the Constitution. She was the beloved matriarch of the Burgess Family hosting holiday and family gatherings. It was always a fond occasion for Sara to take her out of town family to Dolline's Cafe in Clifton, SC. Sara is survived by her son Edward C.W. Romney of Ellenboro, NC, grandchildren, Edward Samuel, A. Logan, and Nessa J. Romney. Her beloved family includes five siblings, twelve nieces and nephews, twenty-five great nieces and nephews, and one great, great grandniece. The family is thankful for the sacrificial love shown by Ricky and Sharon Holloway since the loss of Ed and her good fight against cancer. Her friendships were counted among her greatest joys and blessings. It was mutual. As a dear friend shared, "...in all things, Sara gave glory to her Savior and never failed to bless everyone with whom she came in contact." The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home. A Celebration of Death and Resurrection will follow at 11:00am in the Dunbar Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Lowry Drennen and Fr. Jim Heil.
