Pacolet, SC- Scott Lanning Messer, 48, husband of Misty Stafford Messer, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born March 27, 1973 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Susan Messer Arledge. To know Scott, was to love him. His greatest love in life was his family. To be a great husband, dad and Papa is what he set out to be and he exceeded in all of those roles. With his larger than life personality, his life was a collection of stories. Scott’s laugh was contagious and he enjoyed every moment he was able to make his family smile. His greatest joy in life was his family. He spent countless hours working on his wrestling skills, just so he wouldn’t be outdone by his sons. Scott made a hobby out of finding ways for his girls to spoil him...and it worked. He may not have lived forever, but he created something that will. In addition to his wife, Scott is survived by his children, T.J. Messer (Paxton) of Spartanburg, SC, Seth Messer (Kendell) of Inman, SC, Chandler Messer of Pacolet, SC, and Savannah Messer (Jackson) of Pacolet, SC; and two grandchildren, Atticus and Laney Messer. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 30th, 1:00-2:00PM at Browns Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM, officiated by Pastor Ralph Jett. Burial will be held in Shiloh Memorial cemetery in Inman, SC.
