Shelby Jean Barnett Smith

Chesnee, SC- Shelby Jean Barnett Smith, 84, wife of the late William Dupre Smith, went to sleep in the Lord on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Born July 3, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC, Shelby was a daughter of the late Fred Barnett and Carrie Dillard Barnett. Shelby was a loving and nurturing mother, grand and great grandmother. She loved her cats and NASCAR.

Shelby is survived by her sons, David William Smith (Linda) of Lyman, SC and Michael Lee Smith (Teresa) of Duncan, SC; her daughter, Brenda Sherbert (Mike) of Roebuck, SC; son in-law, Bobby Hipp; grandchildren, Lacey Turner, Tina Johnson, Joshua Smith, Zachary Smith, and Jordy Hipp; great grandchildren, Eli Reece, Nolan Lail, Claire Johnson, Jayden Hipp, Ryder Hipp, and Micah Turner, who is expected in August; and her sister, Carolyn Evans.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by daughters, Connie Smith and Dana Smith Hipp; and grandsons, Joey Johnson and Jimmy Hipp.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3rd, 1:00-1:45PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 2:00PM, officiated by Reverend Jackie Bridwell.

Burial will be held in the Inman Cemetery.
