It is with a mournful heart that we share Sherry Diane Pettit of Pauline, SC passed away. Her immaculate strength left us on Monday, November 20, 2023, after an extended series of health issues. Her transition to rest was peaceful. Sherry is survived by her stalwart husband of 42 years, Michael “Pete” Pettit; her devoted children, Kaylon and Donald; and her beloved granddaughter, Layla. She was born and raised in Fountain Inn, SC, to the late Shirley and Earley “Bunt” Horne. She was also predeceased by Timothy and Terry Horne. She is survived by Debbie Horne, wife of Terry, their son Brad Horne, and Kenny, Toby and Jamie Horne, sons of Timothy. Sherry labored as a nurse for 40 years, applying her healing touch and soothing spirit at Mary Black Hospital, in Spartanburg, SC. She can count contributions to the wellbeing and health of her community among her innumerable accomplishments. Her legacy thrives in her community of friends, colleagues, and loved ones and those whom she blessed with her love, compassion, kindness and warmth. It must be said that her devout faith, dedication to her labors and her gift of unconditional love to her family are hallmarks of a life truly well-lived. Hers was a simple and powerful grace that conveyed the love of our God to all she knew. Her strength was beyond measure and will inspire others for years to come. Her spirit reflects the staggering majesty of God’s love, and her life was directed by His hand. As He has called her home to rest, we are, in turn, called by Him to follow the example set by His child, our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, Sherry Diane Pettit.
