Shirley Bishop Gault

Shirley Bishop Gault, 89, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was born on October 31, 1934 to the late Alonzo B. and Dorothy Waddell Bishop, and was the widow of the late Eddie H. Gault.

Shirley was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. She retired from Southern Bell after 40 years of service. 

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael Gault, Randy Gault (Dianne), Tim Gault (Jone), and Kristi Harris (Scott); grandchildren, Heather Forrester, Justin Gault, David Gault, Daniel Gault, Lauren Gault, Caleb Gault, and Hayden Harris; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Rachel Hembree; and sister-in-law, Linda Bishop. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jana Lynn Gault, and her brother, David Bishop.

A special thank you is extended to Jean Robinson for her love, support, and friendship to Shirley. The family would also like to recognize Emma Jett for her love and for providing countless meals throughout the years. In addition to Jean and Emma, the family would like to thank Hope Blackley (special neighbor), Shirley’s caregivers: Kenyatta Moore, Marti Ivey, April Williams, and Kandice Tillerson, and the staff of Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum for their excellent, loving care of Shirley.

Visitation will be 12:00-12:45pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Daniel Blackwell and Rev. Kenny Moore.
