Stanley Delaney Moore, 96, of Spartanburg, SC passed away at home on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Born in Forest City, NC, on June 19, 1927, he was raised in Caroleen, NC by the late George Bunni and Daisey Green Moore.
After high school, Stanley enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. He was called to duty and fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a China Marine and also served two tours in Vietnam. After 28 years, having achieved the rank of Master Sergeant, Stanley retired from the Marine Corps and became the owner of Zack’s CB. He also worked as a contractor with Tel Autograph Corporation for over 20 years.
Stanley leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Stephens Moore; daughter, Jeri “Jasper” Stamey; grandchildren, Holly Stamey and Andy Moore; great-grandchildren, Drew Black, August Smith, Mylo Smith, Islie Smith, Isaac Moore, and Silas Moore; sister, Joy Higgins; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Stanley “George” Moore, Jr.; grandson, Stanley Moore, III; brother, Jerry Moore; and sisters, Opal Russo and Gwen Cash.
Memorial services will be 2:00pm on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 797 Old Georgia Road, Moore, SC 29369. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
