Stephen Carl Emmerth

Spartanburg, SC- Stephen Carl Emmerth, 77, husband of Catherine Dillon Emmerth, passed away at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home on Friday, September 22, 2017. A native of McAdoo, PA, he was born on February 23, 1940 to the late Stephen and Mary Emmerth. Steve was a dedicated member of the community since 1977, volunteering at several community organizations including Mobile Meals and United Way Gifts in Kind. Steve was a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. He spent his career in textiles, first employed by Spartan Mills and later at Hamrick Mills. Steve enjoyed a long career and was well respected in the industry. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the church finance committee. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Steve is survived by his daughter, Katie; three sons, Stephen, Jr., Gregory, and Paul (Magdalena) and their two sons. He is also survived by two sisters, Alberta Richert (Bill) and Jane Lukaszyk (Bill) and their two sons, Jeff and Greg and their families. Steve enjoyed relationships with his cousins, nieces, and nephews on both sides of the family. A Mass of Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 11:00AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
