Susan Cohen Jacobs

Susan Cohen Jacobs, 86 years old, passed away peacefully at her home on November 9, 2023. She is survived by Henry D. Jacobs, Jr, her husband of 66 years and her six children - Brett, (Wife - Daniela Moura), Shawn, Clay, Laurie, Douglas, and Seth; Her five grandchildren - Dakota Dunbar (Husband-Bruce), Gunnar Cash (Wife-Emily), Sydney Jacobs, Alex Simpson (Husband-Kris), and Zion Jacobs; and four great - grandchildren- Isla, Beckett, Zara and Sawyer; her sister, Louise Wechsler (Husband-David). Susan was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and attended Emerson College in Boston; where she met Henry. Susan had this ambition to someday be an RN Nurse. After her last child started first grade, at 42 years old she began her dream to accomplish her goal. She later graduated from the USC Upstate Mary Black School of Nursing, and had a fulfilling career for over ten years at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. A talented actress, she enjoyed escaping into her performances like “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Same Time Next Year”, and “Love Letters” through Spartanburg Little Theatre, Temple B'Nai Israel and other local groups. She served on the boards of Converse College, New Day of Spartanburg, and the Carolina Piedmont Foundation/USC Upstate. The Susan Jacobs Arboretum at USC Upstate flourishes in her honor. Susan was unselfish, always giving of herself, and lived a life of kindness to all people and animals. For all the people who knew her; they can attest to her having the many qualities that defined her as a truly beautiful person. She lived a long productive and magnificent life. She will be painfully missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Heathy Smiles, PO Box 1441, Spartanburg, 29304, St Luke’s Free Clinic P.O.
