Suzanne Parris Bagwell passed away December 6th at Spartanburg Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Suzanne was born in Spindale, NC on April 12, 1941. She grew up in Cowpens, SC, where she was a graduate of Cowpens High School. Suzanne then went on to graduate from Spartanburg Junior College and Limestone College. Suzanne was a public school teacher before starting her family.
In 1964, Suzanne married John Earl Bagwell, Jr. John and Suzanne lived in Spartanburg where they led an active, happy life in the community. Suzanne is survived by her husband of sixty years; her son, John Bagwell of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Suzette Laney of Spartanburg, SC, and Molly Colbath (Greg) of Spartanburg, SC; as well as her six wonderful grandchildren, Shelton Laney, Wells Laney, Annie Colbath, Caroline Colbath, Helen Colbath, and Jane Colbath. Suzanne is also survived by a sister, Peggy Watkins. She was predeceased by her parents, Ebbie Sue Matheny and Bill Parris, as well as her brother, Billy Parris.
Suzanne was a member of First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg. “Susu”, as she was known by many, was a friend of all people, and loved everyone she met.
The family wishes to thank Drs. James Beaden, Pamela Davenport, David Ike, and the exceptional staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
A memorial service is planned for 2pm on Friday, December 13th at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
