Tru Muriel Lawter

Spartanburg, SC- Tru Muriel Parris Lawter, 78, wife of the late Daniel Warren Lawter, died Saturday, May 27, 2017. Born November 12, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC, Tru was the daughter of the late Moody Eugene and Cora Beatrice Hopkins Parris. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who’s soul was filled with music. Tru was a member of the Mary Montgomery Order of the Eastern Star, Beaumont Baptist Church, and a former member of Green Street Baptist. After many years of service, she retired as RN from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Tru is survived by her daughter, Sherry “Sissy” Smith; and granddaughter, Jennifer Danielle Bristow. She was predeceased by a son, Michael “Mickey” Lawter. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 1st, 2-3PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4PM in Sunset Memorial Park. The family is at the home of her daughter.
