Spartanburg, SC- Vance “Edward” Jackson, Jr., 33, husband of Logan Campbell Jackson, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of Angelita Dunbar Jackson and the late Vance Edward Jackson. Edward was a 2005 graduate of Spartanburg High School and closing pitcher and first baseman for the Vikings. He then graduated from Spartanburg Community College and AB Tech in Asheville for culinary arts. Edward was a well-known and favored chef in the Spartanburg community, culminating his career as executive chef at Gerhard’s Café. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his grandmothers, Peggy Randall Dunbar and Doris Jean Jackson; two sisters, Angelita Jackson Phillips (Will) and Susan Jackson Stewart (Trey); brother in-law, Michael Campbell; mother in-law, Missy Campbell; nieces and nephews, Jackson, Margaret, and Henry Phillips, Maddox and Greyson Stewart, and Charlie Campbell; and a large, loving extended family. Private services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church due to COVID restrictions. In remembrance of Edward, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to the charity of one’s choice.
