Spartanburg – Victor Thor Ellstrom, 80, husband of Ann “Miss Ann” Rollins Ellstrom, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Vic was born on February 17, 1937 to the late Walter Edgar and Helen White Ellstrom. Vic at the age of 17 enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he was a member of the Marine Honor Guard. He participated at White House Ceremonies, burials at Arlington National Cemetery, and guarded President Dwight D. Eisenhower. After his Marine Corps service he was a NYC Policemen for over three years. Later, he was commissioned as an officer in the US Army where he served as a Company Commander in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat among many other awards. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Tor Rollins Ellstrom (Angie) of Spartanburg; daughter, Helen Ann Ellstrom of Spartanburg; brother, Terry Ellstrom of Brooklyn, NY; and a sister, Debby Anastasia (Phillip) of Staten Island, NY. Vic was blessed with five grandchildren, Katherine Ann Ellstrom Burt (Mason), Mary-Grace Elizabeth Ellstrom, Emerson Elizabeth Thomas, Sean Osborne, and Blaze Osborne. The family will be at the home; 440 Forest Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29302 after 4:00PM on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Private family services will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
