Virginia Smith Williams

Virginia Smith Williams  Spartanburg – Virginia Smith Williams, 88, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  Born March 16, 1929, she was the wife of the late James Howard Williams and the daughter of the late Allen P. and Gertrude Hollingsworth Smith. Mrs. Williams was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Pauline, SC.  She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC.  She retired from B.J. Workman Memorial Hospital, Woodruff, SC, after many years of dedicated service. She is survived by a daughter, Melanie E. Williams of Sumter, SC; a son, Joel S. Williams, Sr. (Nellie) of Glenn Springs, SC; and a grandson, Joel S. Williams, Jr. of Spartanburg.  She was predeceased by her brother, Allen P. Smith, Jr. and her sister, Margaret S. Gowan. The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Falls Terrace for their kind and compassionate care and also Kay Kirby, who was an earthly angel to her “Aunt Ginner.” The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel, 690 Southport Rd., Roebuck, SC with the Funeral service immediately following at 11:00am officiated by the Reverend Tyler Kirby.
