Vonita Claxton Steward

Vonita C. Steward Spartanburg, SC- Vonita Claxton Steward, 87, wife of Charles E. Steward, died Thursday, September 27, 2018. Born July 10, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas, Vonita was a daughter of the late Teddy Von and Willie Maple Ray Claxton. She worked for over 20 years with Harley Bag Company as a bag inspector. Vonita was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, James Pruett of Gaffney, SC; daughter, Dedera Pruett McCraw (Ronnie) of Gaffney, SC; stepdaughter, Donna Steward Parris (Frank) of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, James and Jason Pruett, Darrell and Kayla McCraw; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Pruett; seven step-grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon Ray Claxton (Jean) of Wichita, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Dunbar Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Heritage Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Jim Jackson.
