Walter Charles Guthrie of Moore, SC passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the age of 78. He was born in Queens, NY on October 18, 1945 to the late Walter Douglas Guthrie and the late Dorothy Marie Carguillo Guthrie.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Walter served his country with honor. His time in the military taught him to be a hardworking man, and he carried this through his life, supporting his family well. He retired after 20 years with Long Island Rail Road. Walter loved trains and had many model trains in his collection.
Walter valued his family deeply. He was a caring husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. He also had a great love for his many pets, including his dogs, Gizmo, Midnight, and Quigley, and cat, Officer.
He leaves behind his wife, Roseanne Frances Caligiuri Guthrie; son, Theodore Thomas Guthrie, Sr. (Christine Pliandro-Guthrie); grandchildren, Austin, Dillon, Antonio, Theodore Jr., and Bella; and siblings, Doris, Eddie, Tina, and Mark. He was predeceased by his daughter, Roseanne Frances Guthrie, and brother, John.
Funeral services will be 10:00am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Gary Lawhorne. Visitation will immediately follow the services. Burial will be held at 2:00pm in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery.
