William Lancie Owens

William Lancie Owens, affectionately known as Lancie, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Spartanburg, SC at the age of 56. He was born on May 14, 1968 to Lancie Owens and Linda Gibson.

Lancie led a remarkable life. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Grenada during his military service. Following his time in the Marines, Lancie dedicated himself to a career that spanned various fields. He worked for 15 years as a mechanical engineer with Michelin, 18 years as a truck driver, and devoted over 20 years to Sewer Hawg, showcasing his unwavering commitment and work ethic. Lancie was also a charter member of Rejoice Lutheran Church.

Described as fun-loving, loyal, adventurous, and always willing to help others, Lancie touched the lives of many with his selfless nature and captivating storytelling ability. His intelligence and knack for fixing anything made him a valuable resource to those around him. Outside of work, Lancie had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in being on the water, riding his jet skis, and camping by the lake. Above all, Lancie was a family man and loved being "Papa" to his grandkids. 

Lancie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Dana Owens; children, Kayla Hinerman (George), Sam Owens (Sierra), Austin Greer (Jamie), and Becka Gaddy (Caleb); grandchildren, Ella Hinerman, Nora Hinerman, Olive Greer, and two more that are on their way; father, Lancie Owens; mother, Linda Gibson (Edwin); sister, Lisa Ruiz (Willie); step-sister, Kathy Heavner; father-in-law, Pappy Pool; and the brothers and sisters of his "village". He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Mimi Pool.

A Graveside Service to honor and remember Lancie will take place at 11:00am on Monday, June 10, 2024, at The Owens Home in Spartanburg, conducted by Rev. Jeff Valentine.
