Roebuck, SC- Ending this life’s journey and starting his everlasting life, Winfred Earl Corn, Jr., left this world on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. He has joined his parents, Winfred Sr. and Gary Corn; and his brother, Larry Corn, in God’s heavenly home. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Ann Harrison Corn, and loved her until the day he died. He leaves her and their son, Michael Winfred Corn and his wife, Stephanie, and their daughters, Phoebe and Jane Ann, of Fort Mill, SC. Also surviving is his sister, Linda Riddle and her husband, Richard, of Trussville, AL; his brother, Ron Corn and his wife, Jeanette, of Oakdale, MN; and their families. He leaves behind a host of family and friends who feel the pain of his loss; but who gratefully, also feel the kinship, love and laughter shared through many good times. Whether on a lake, a river, a field, in a forest, at a tailgate or on his back patio, those who had the pleasure to spend time with him have many fond memories that help take the sting from his passing. God was merciful in allowing him a quick exit from this earth while outside enjoying a beautiful fall afternoon just four days shy of what would have been his 77th birthday. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, all around outdoorsman and a jack of all trades. There was little he couldn’t do. Winfred served his community and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. He also served the people of upstate South Carolina through his career at Duke Power. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 27th, 5-7PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 28th, 3PM at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Bob Pettit, Reverend Richard Thomas, and Reverend David Sanders. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In memory of Winfred, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1399 Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376 or Alzheimer’s Association, 901 South Pine St, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
